Tips on How to Win
Learn the Art of the Flat Lay
Lay out your flooring samples alongside other finishes in your space (such as textiles, tiles, or paint samples) to pair colours and textures, and simply take a photo from above to document it! Think of this like a mood board, your inspiration for the finished look and feel you want to achieve in your space.
Think about Props:
These can be other finishes you will be using in your space such as paint chips, tile, or textile samples. Or even something more abstract like flowers, plant clippings, or anything else that inspires the look and feel you want to achieve in your new space.
Coordinate Lighting:
Flat lays look best with strong lighting. Try a ring light if you have access to one, or make the most of natural sunlight during the day.
Play around with angles:
You don’t have to stick with a traditional grid layout. Try angling items and taking your photo from a different perspective.
